how we work

bit10 use an iterative project and development methodology that is based around the rigour of PRINCE II, but gives us the flexibility and continual delivery mechanism of an agile-based methodology.

project management method

We use a Project Management methodology based around PRINCE II.

development method

We use an Agile type development methodology to deliver the project. This approach is to break down the project into a number of stages (called sprints), typically of 2-3 weeks in duration, and each stage will start with a planning session and finish with a showcase.

sprints

We develop and build the system with a series of tight sprint deadlines and have daily meetings to review the progress the previous day, what we have planned for the current day, and any blockers that may impact our delivery. We also update our clients on a regular basis (daily or every couple of days) to ensure transparency, and to assist us with any questions or assumptions that we have as we are in the sprint.

showcase

The showcase is where we demonstrate what we have built and clients have the opportunity to feedback on the sprint deliverables, and input requirements into the next sprint. This is normally done via webinar, but this can be onsite at bit10, or the client premises if required.

advantages

The advantages of this approach are that all project team members (both our client and bit10) have clearly defined deliverables for the sprint stages and progress made is transparent to all parties.

The opportunity to feedback at regular intervals and begin considering and adding content to the site from an early point in the project also teases out any risks, issues, etc... at an early stage.
