Providing information such as shop locations, local news and events, promotions and competitions ensures the user can quickly find all of the information they need in a single application, improving the shopping experience whilst building an engaging relationship with their local city.

Controlled using a custom Content Management System (CMS), content on the app can be quickly and easily updated to ensure there is always something new when the user interacts with it.

The CMS allows for multi roll support meaning that you have full control over the content within the app, whilst individual retailers can login and curate promotions and competitions, update their company information and target users with push notifications and email campaigns.

The iOS and Android applications are built using native development tools designed to leverage the specific interaction’s and nuances of each platform.

This means that whilst the same content is served up to both iOS and Android users, it is presented to them in a format that meets the design guidelines and requirements of each platform, ensuring familiar and consistent experience for the end user.

A federated login system allows the user to login through Facebook, or create a unique account. Providing both options offers the user the best of both worlds; a quick and easy login system for those who use Facebook, or a standard login system for those who would prefer not to link their social media account to the app.

Once the app is launched and the initial welcome screens have been viewed the user is taken into a series of profiling screens. These screens simply ask the user to select products they are interested in. Using this information and their standard details (gender, age ...) the app can determine which offers would be of most interest to them when they interact with the app.

Promotions are presented to the user based on their current profile settings. For example users who have shown an interest in men’s fashion and reading will be presented with offers from men’s clothing retailers and bookstores at the top of their promotions list. Users will be presented with a list of competitions currently being run by City Centre Retailers. All competition drawing logic is handled by the CMS and winners and runners up are drawn randomly when the competition closes, allowing retailers to directly contact the winners so they can claim their prize.

The events section of the app allows promotion of local events to end-users. These events could include both free and paid for events such as Christmas Markets, Switch-On, Lifestyle, Music Festivals.

The news section of the app ensures users can keep up to date with anything City Centre related and via the CMS the news articles can be either internally curated or linked from eternal news agencies.

Interacting with the app and ultimately the retailers contained within it will earn the user points. These points then expose special offers and promotions adding another level of engagement with the app.

The Bar / Restaurant finder feature allows the user to locate food venues around the city and find information about their menus, promotions and contact details to book a table. The application also features a Discover section. This section allows the user to find information about historic buildings, local recreational areas and museums and galleries, driving tourism and adding another level of engagement for the user.

All information contained within the app can be shared with other users including promotions, news, retailer location etc. If the share recipient already has the Coventry City Centre VIP app they will be taken directly to the shared content. Users without the app will be redirected to the relevant app store for their device so that they can download it.

Push notifications allow end users to be notified when any new and relevant promotions become available allowing the Coventry City Centre BID team to connect with the end user even when they are not directly interacting with the app. In addition local notifications allow the user to set reminders for when offers expire or competitions close.
