job vacancy: internet application developer

bit10 ltd. is looking for a talented and experienced software professional to join its development team. You would be part of a highly skilled, talented team working as an Internet Application Developer on a wide range of projects. You would have the opportunity to work with different languages and technologies, in a highly creative and innovative environment.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the role would be split between:
- Application development — the primary focus of the work, coding applications primarily for a Microsoft .NET, Ruby on Rails and Microsoft SQL Server platform but also working with MySQL, Java, PhP, Macromedia ColdFusion and other Internet application platforms.
- System design — working with other members of the team to design the underlying architecture for our application solutions.
- Solution consultancy — working directly with account managers to provide technical consultancy, solution design and costings that will be input into bids and tenders.

The position is based at our Coventry offices on the University of Warwick Science Park.

requirements
Relevant commercial experience between 1 and 2 years (preferably in an agency environment).
Computer Science (or related) degree, 2.1 or above.
You will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Commercial development with Microsoft .NET (C#), Ruby on Rails or similar.
- Commercial Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL (including database design and SQL authoring)
- Structured development methodologies (FuseBox, MVC or similar)
Formal certification or training in one or more of the above technologies would also be an advantage.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following general skills:
- Understanding of general software engineering principles such as development patterns, modular code design, reuse and maintainability.
- Good written communication skills, in particular documentation such as functional and engineering specifications.
- Good verbal communication skills, in particular being able to discuss technical subjects with both non-technical clients and technical 3rd parties.
- Organisational and task management skills, primarily for your own self management but also supporting less experienced members of your team.
- Team working skills, including work planning and knowledge sharing.
- Keen to learn with an “open” attitude to new ideas, technologies and the opinion of others.
- Outcomes based approach to your work, in particular when working to deadlines.
Finally, you will need to be committed and hardworking and enjoy working in a challenging environment on complex and high profile projects for a diverse range of clients.
