internet outage

date: 9th September 2011

At 4:02pm on the 8th September 2011 we experienced an Internet outage due to a hardware issue from our upstream provider.

As we have a dual resilient circuit to Telehouse East (London) our failure over process was initiated and we began to return all of our client sites to service from 4:09pm to 4:15pm.

However, this is at the upper end of our envisaged return to service timescales, so in order to improve upon this our upstream provider is:

  1. Moving to an entirely Cisco based core (Cisco 7606 with RSP720-3CXL route processors).
  2. Adding a second London pop in Interxion Bricklane, that is geographically disparate to our existing location in Telehouse East - all services will be split between the two London cores.
