testing and quality assurance
bit10 prides itself on the quality of the product we deliver to clients. This is achieved through five distinct levels of quality assurance (QA) and testing during the lifetime of a project:
Developer level testing — all developers are expected to test their code for functionality, scalability and robustness during development.
bit10 independent quality assurance (QA) testing — it is an accepted fact that, while a system developer may provide a high level of unit testing during the development process, full system testing and quality control is best conducted by an unbiased third party. This is the job of our in-house QA team. The team is responsible for evaluating the integrity of all systems developed at bit10, and as such have a well-refined portfolio of techniques for conducting system testing. By keeping the team in-house, a close relationship with the development teams is maintained, ensuring that any changes or problems found during the system testing and QA process can be resolved quickly.
Client testing — bit10 encourages clients to be actively involved in the development process. A test site is typically made available to the client at the same time it is delivered to our QA department for testing, thus giving an extra level of QA feedback and allowing the client the opportunity for a thorough evaluation of the product prior to commencing the deployment and sign-off process.
bit10 QA post-sales testing — as an additional service the QA department are available for monthly or quarterly re-testing of live websites. A large number of clients find the test reports returned by the QA department invaluable for refining and maintaining the high quality of their sites; this is especially relevant to sites with a high degree of content management by the client. This is an additional charged-for service.
User testing — sites can be tested on realistic end users to assess compliance with usability and accessibility guidelines.
